Happy September and Hobbit month friends!Ā Unfortunately I hit a bit of another slump last month so I didn't finish any new books, though I have started two that I do plan to finish. And of course there's a good ol' book haul to share too. š
āļøš September Book Club PickĀ šāļø
Like I said, it's Hobbit month, so it should be no surprise that The HobbitĀ itself is the pick for the Cup of Tea Book ClubĀ this month. I read this book every year in celebration of all things Tolkien and to welcome the much cozier and cooler fall months. Whether you're new to Tolkien or a long-time fan, all are welcome to join us!
āš Books I Started in AugustĀ šā
So in addition to The Hobbit, I'm about 1/4 in to The Night Ends With FireĀ by K.X. Song. I'm thoroughly enjoying the story and all of the unexpected animated Mulan references so far - it's just taking me a bit longer to finish than expected. I should have a full review ready in next month's edition of Second Sundays. š¤
š August Book Haul š
A more modest stack this month, but lots of anticipated books and one unexpected find too!
From top to bottom:
The Full Moon Coffee ShopĀ by Mai MochizukiĀ - Ā A cozy fiction about talking cats that run a coffee shop which appears to those in need of it. An unexpected find that I'm looking forward to enjoying during the end-of-year months.
The Adventures of Tom BombadilĀ by J.R.R. TolkienĀ - It wouldn't be Hobbit month if I didn't acquire another Tolkien book for the collection! This is a rerelease and the first of several new Tolkien books coming over the next couple of months. š
Apprentice to the VillainĀ by Hannah Nicole MaehrerĀ - the sequel to Assistant to the Villain, which was one of my favorite books from last year that ended on a cliff hanger. Super excited to finally find out what happens next!
A Sorceress Comes to CallĀ by T. KingfisherĀ - another one for the Kingfisher pile! One of my new favorite authors that I just discovered this year. I'm determined to read all of her fantasy books and maybe even some of her horror stories. š
Mysterious Brown BoxĀ - so this is a special edition book that I actually ordered back in March and it has arrived at last. Check out the video below for the reveal!
